New Assessors

Over the past few months, 11 members from across the state have taken on the TAESS00019 Assessor Skill Set course - completing their second and final three-day workshop at Burnie SLSC.
They’re now (almost) ready to begin the endorsement process to become volunteer assessors, helping ensure training and assessment standards remain strong across our movement this season.
A huge thank you to our dedicated members for their commitment to this course, and to Steve and the team from Surf Life Saving Queensland for delivering the program in partnership with SLST.

SLST State Conference
Representing Somerset Surf Life Saving Club at State Conference with David Greisbach and Rachael Shires. Informative weekend and great to catch up with fellow Tasmanian club members. Many I have not seen for a while.
Rotary Club of Somerset
We were delighted to host a visit from the Somerset Surf Life Saving Club this week, with new Club President Dale Cumming and Club Treasurer David Greisbach. At our dinner meeting at the Burnie Greens Bistro in Cooee.
It was fantastic to hear them recount the long history between our two clubs, including how our Rotary club's fundraising efforts helped them purchase their very first surf boat many years ago.
Dale also shared the fascinating story of how the club came to be located here in Somerset and the reasons behind this, then he outlined their exciting new vision for the future.
This includes potential new rescue equipment for patrols, a new lightweight competition surf boat, updated their gym equipment, and gaining crucial funds to modernize their storage and change room facilities.
We thank Dale and David for their incredibly informative and inspiring presentation. We are so proud to support the vital work our local surf lifesavers do to keep our community safe.

Gym Opening
Great start to new season opening gym with Anne Urquhart opening gym upgrade. Great to have State President Stuart Paine attend. Club is extremely grateful for support from Federal Government to assist with initial update to club gym. Great turn out especially with former members coming along including former presidents and interested people wanting to become involved with club and also look at gym membership. Please let us know if interested in becoming involved in a great club and a great organisation that is Surf Life Saving.
